Description
Day 1. Students will brainstorm what they want their figure to look like by sketching and writing down specific details they would want to add to their miniature. When students have concluded working on sketches, they will come to get their clay. The remainder of the class will be used for sculpting their
miniatures using the simple materials around them to create /invent what all is needed to complete them.
Day 2. Students will use the first half of class to add on any additional details needed to complete their miniatures. Once
the first half of class is down, then we will discuss the environments of where their characters will be “living in”. Students are
welcome to sketch out ideas or get to work right away. They will be encouraged to use “found materials” to add clay around to
bulk up/build the sets. The main platform will be a piece of sturdy cardboard cut however they please. Not everything has to have
a clay finish. Students may also used their found materials to finish the final sets
Days 3 & 4. Final touches phase! Students will now have a chance to add color to their completed/dried sets and characters.
This will also be an opportunity for them to add any additional details that are not clay based. After every element of the final
work is completed students can either photograph their works while they are drying. Or they will write a short summary of their
inspirations behind the work and a small story (”scene written by the director”). The stories will depict events that lead up to the
current scene, what is happening in the final work, and where the “scene” will conclude.
