Our artist of the week this week (11/4) is Lori Kidd.
Artist Lori Kidd is an enamelist who creates elegant yet quirky and fun necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Lori utilizes cloisonné’ and other enameled techniques make one of a kind jewelry.
I love the enameling technique cloisonné. I enjoy the process of drawing with the wire and then bringing it to life with the enamels. Follow this by the relaxing process of filing and polishing the piece until it glows, it is so rewarding to see the finished piece.
Tips on Tuesday:
I have two favorite enamelists Jamie Bennett & Sandra McEwen. I think making larger wall art pieces would be so much fun.
Putting it on paper to see a design is exciting. I have a clearer plan of what it will look like. Plus it helps to see if i need to change anything.
I wasn’t sure if it was any good but I wore it one day and happened to see a gallery owner who loved it and encouraged me to design more.
I love watching my style change. It is getting more intricate and challenging, I love pushing the boundaries to see where my art will go next. I also love creating and encourage everyone to do so, for it will enrich your life and your spirit.
