Carved Slate in Irish Language by Mark Weiser
Almost 2000 years ago the Irish developed an alphabet. Carved into wood beams or large stone markers, this was a way to communicate ownership and also news. (The Romans in the area had no idea how to translate.) This slate, says, in Irish, “Fáilte” which means Welcome. Welcome your friends and family as only the Irish can. Also available in other words (using Ogham writing) and phrases in wood or slate.
